tvN plan on making Korean Entourage : Yes or No?

Hello everyone!!!

Today, I have an unexpected news coming from K-Dramaland!!! Apparently, tvN is going to remake US popular television show, Entourage (2004 - 2011). This remake will be directed by the director of  tvN "I Need Romance 2012". For those of you who do not really familiar with this television show, Entourage is a HBO television show which tells a story about the life of an actor named Vincent Chase (Adrian Grenier) with his three friends, Eric Murphy (Kevin Connolly), Johnny "Drama" Chase (Kevin Dillon), and Turtle (Jerry Ferrara). All of his friends were also Vince's, Vincent's nickname, co-workers with Eric as his manager, Johnny, who also happened to be his brother and not-so popular actor, as his chef and bodyguard while Turtle becomes his driver. There is also Ari Gold (Jeremy Piven), Vincent's agent who is temperamental, rude, but lovable. Basically, this show is about the behind the scene life about film industry in US like how they are dealing with rumors, how they are getting a contract for a new movie, how an agency works. Of course, along with their private life like partying or hooking up with girls.

First of all, I must say I am very excited with this remake because I always interested with behind the scene life of entertainment industry. I already watched Entourage before eventhough only for three seasons (I regret that I never continued that again :((() and I love the story since I am interested to get involve in entertainment industry. Entourage was sooo funny and I love that each character have their own distinctive personality. And I also love their bromance!! Trust me, when I am writing this, I kinda miss watching this show huhuhuhuhu where is my dvd?

The fact that tvN is the one who produce this drama also makes me have a huge hope on it. Yes, like I already said before, tvN has a good track records on their drama production. Moreover, since Entourage has a lot of maturity content and full of swearing, I think it is a good decision to make it on cable channel since it will not too strict on this kind of rules. As for the director, I have not watch I Need Romance 2012 before, but based on what I read, it gain positive responds from people. So, I think tvN does not choose wrong people who will lead this series.

Now, the biggest question is what kind of direction that they will take on the South Korean version of Entourage? We all know that South Korea Entertainment Industry has this kind of "obsession" towards perfection. It's like everything must be well-polished, nice, and people cannot leave a single mistake before they being judged by the so-called netizens. This is contradicted of what being offered by Entourage. Like I already said earlier, Entourage shows the behind the scene life of the movie industry life and yes, sometimes, it does not as beautiful as we usually seen on television. That is why I am kind of curious, are they willing to do it? Because I do not want to see them showing the so well-polished of actors or actresses life with their smile everywhere and tears whenever they are tired, but the purpose of this is only to make viewers cry.

Honestly, for the concept, I am more interested into the idol and their management life. You can call me biased, but hey, people can dream, right? Beside that, the movie industry has been covered last year with MBC "King of Dramas" that I have not been watched yet (no surprise). I am sure not only me who are interested with the real life of idol, how the company treat them, how they can cope with busy schedules, how they deal with netizens, and lastly, how to maintain their love relationship. tvN could make references from popular case, such as confirmed dating news (Tony Ahn & Girls' Day Hyeri), drama among the member of the group (still remember T-ara everyone?), the feeling of waiting about when will be the time for us to comeback (I'm sure you know who is this :p It's EXO, guys!!), the clean image that has been ruined (Nation's Little Sister, IU, who is not so innocent after all), and the crazy ass CEO (Yes, it's you, Kim Kwang Soo from CCM). Oh God...imagining this already make me excited!!! I bet it would be hilarious hahahahahahaha and also controversial :p (imagine how many company will sue them because their dirty little secrets being exposed). But, I am sure tvN do not mind in exploring this kind of things because they already did that bravely last year with gay character and obsessed fangirls in Reply 1997.

Moreover, I kinda wish they only take Entourage as the main theme with the behind the scene life of entertainment industry. I am not really fond of the same four male main characters for this drama eventhough I love their characters. The reason I said this is because they already have SBS "A Gentleman's Dignity" (2012) and Heirs (2013) with the same story about four male main characters. I am afraid that they will trapped into same direction. Beside that, I kinda worry with Ari's character. Jeremy Piven is sooo memorable and brilliant as Ari and I am afraid it will be burden for others although I bet that some South Korean actors can nail this similar character (Sung Dong Il made me laugh in Reply 1997 with this similar character!!!). Ari's character can be either hit or miss, that is why the production team have to make sure to cast a good actor for this character if they are going to make it similar with the US version.

Anyway, at last, best of luck for tvN production team on making this drama. I really hope they read this blog and grant my wishes hahahahahahaha eventhough it's impossible. There are still no confirmed date about when will Korean Entourage will be aired on television. And also, there are no confirmed casts too. So, while waiting for it, let's design our dream concept and casts as good as we want and let's hope that tvN will be brave enough to digging the South Korean entertainment industry dirty little secrets ;)
