[MOVIE REVIEW] The Amazing Spiderman (2012)

Hi, guyssssss!! Finally, I'm back....... :D :D :D
After several posts about Korean stuffs, now I'm going to post a movie review again!!
Hope you like this post :)

Yesterday, I watched The Amazing Spiderman (2012) on one of the movie theatres in Jakarta.
Maybe all of you have been wondering if this movie is related with the previous Spiderman movies from Sam Raimi.
Well, the answer is....no. This movie is the new beginning of the Spiderman which likely being called as a reboot.

After read my explanation, other questions must come into your mind.
"Doesn't it a little bit to fast from a reboot since the last Spiderman movie from Raimi, Spiderman 3, aired in 2007 ? Beside that, why need a reboot ? Raimi along with his crews and casts already did a great job on handling this movie."
I have to agree on the first point since I also think the same way.
On the second point, actually, Raimi along with Tobey Maguire & Kirsten Dunst, the lead male and female character from his Spiderman movies, already agreed to do Spiderman 4. But, he had to cancel it because of several problems such as the script.

Because of this, Sony Pictures, the production house of Spiderman movies, decided to do a reboot of this movie called The Amazing Spiderman. They chose Marc Webb (500 Days of Summer) as the director. For the leading casts, they chose Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker/Spiderman, Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, Parker's love interest, and Rhys Ifans as the main villain of this movie, Dr Curt Connors/The Lizard.

The Amazing Spiderman is about Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield), a boy who lost his parents when he was a child. Because of this, he had to stay with his uncle, Ben (Martin Sheen) and his aunt, May (Sally Field). Peter is a type of the nerd, but smart boy who always got bullied by his friends at school.

His miserable life suddenly changed when he visit Oscorp Company in order to met Dr. Curt Connors (Rhys Ifans) which he believed knew the answers of his parents' death. During his visitation, Peter got bitten by a spider and suddenly, he started to feel changes on his body. His body became stronger and elastic, he had strong senses toward something, and many more.

Because of several reasons, Peter began to use his "new power" to do something good to his city by catching bad people. People known him as "Spiderman". His new job didn't seem really easy since the police captain, Captain Stacy (Denis Leary) who happen to be, Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone) his love interest's father, felt his job as a police was being threaten by him. Beside that, Peter had to deal with Dr. Curt Connors who transformed into The Lizard that started to destroy the city. How can Peter Parker/Spiderman deal with all of this problems ?

Well, I actually still think it was too fast for a reboot, but thank you to Marc Webb, he did not ruined it.
Forget all of your skeptical statements toward this movie because Webb did a really good job on this movie. I love how he gave more human side to Spiderman on this movie. Yes...Spidey can get bruises and he even made jokes to the car thieves that he wanted to catch!
Moreover, Webb also gave more logic on the story. Throughout the movie, I can clearly see the motivation behind Peter's decision to be Spiderman.
Then, I also like how he made the situation in Peter and Gwen's house seemed really close to the real life.

For the casts, one of the strongest point on this movie beside the story.
Andrew Garfield is doing really well as Peter Parker/Spiderman.
One thing that make me really impressed with his acting is how he played the role completely different from how Tobey Maguire's did on previous movies. He made the new and fresh character for Peter Parker/Spiderman. I am not saying who is better than who because both of them are really good on their own way.
Beside that, I can see his emotions through the movie especially during every scenes when he almost cried. That was heartbreaking.
Lastly, note for girls, be prepared because he will make your heart melt from his first appearance on the movie ;)

Emma Stone is Emma Stone.
I don't know this is a bad thing or this is simply her character because I feel that she always bring her original character in a movie. I feel that Gwen Stacy is Emma Stone.
But, thankfully, she played her role well. A good thing about Emma Stone is she is very likeable, so people will always like her character no matter what happen.
I hate to compare this, but Gwen Stacy is way better than Mary Jane Watson :p
Oh and don't forget her amazing chemistry with Andrew Garfield! You will, at least, smile when you saw both of them because they are soooo cute together :)

For the other casts, they played really well too.
Rhys Ifans gave me this scary feeling every time he transformed into The Lizard. He was a great actor. I still amazed that he was the same person who played Hugh Grant's friend in Notting Hill and Xenophilius Lovegood in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows : Part 1.

Denis Leary was also good. He can potrayed his character well. For me, he was the scene stealer during the movie.

Martin Sheen and Sally Field were really great. They have a good chemistry with each other. I can also feel their lovings and carings toward Peter Parker.

Overall, The Amazing Spiderman was a great movie! It gives you the new perspectives about Peter Parker/Spiderman. So, don't miss it!
